Situated high above, and a few minutes from, Ventnor town centre and beach, Seagulls' Rest is an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the attractions of the Isle of Wight. There is a 9-hole golf course on the downland at the back of the house, and the Downs also provide many wonderful walks.

Ventnor is a Victorian town built into the side of the cliffs which, though very beautiful, makes for very steep roads and gardens. For this reason, the house is not suitable for the infirm as there are many very steep steps both inside and out. This fact makes the garden tricky for really small dogs to negotiate, and tiny children will also need supervision.

However, as long as you can cope with steps and slopes, you will find this a wonderful place to base yourself on the Isle of Wight.

This holiday cottage is furnished to provide a home-away-from-home

The back garden is equipped with a swing bench, a table and six chairs, and there is a barbecue in the little shed. In front, on the terrace outside the dining room, are two wooden benches. A sun lounger and comfy chair are also available in the little shed, together with another table. For the convenience of pet pooches, in the garden to the left of the front door is a doggy loo.

The sea views are quite spectacular from every vantage point!
The whole place is south facing, and Ventnor is famous for its wonderful weather.

The cottage is semi-detached and spread over three floors. It accommodates five and, in addition, a cot and high chair are available if requested when booking.

The cottage is very well equipped.

All linen and towels are provided for your stay and, as well as gas-fired central heating, there are cosy electric "log-burning" stoves in the dining and living rooms.

Gas and electricity are also included in the rental, as is wireless broadband.

There is more than enough crockery, glasses, cutlery, and cooking utensils for five people.

In the kitchen there is an electric cooker; microwave; fridge-freezer; and washing machine. There is lots of storage space and a continuous worktop as well as a roomy table. The utility room contains a tumble drier and an extra fridge for the cold drinks. The dining room, which is opposite the kitchen, has sliding doors onto a terrace and spectacular views over the sea. In the sideboard, and on the bookcase, there is a good supply of books, cards, boardgames, and videos for rainy-day entertainment, (although Ventnor has the best climate on the Isle of Wight). On the floor above, the sitting room has two comfortable sofas; hi-fi; flat-screen tv; dvd and vcr.

However, you may just want to curl up with a good book on one of the comfy sofas, occasionally gazing out on the spectacular views over the sea and town.

These two photos show the view from the master bedroom on the top floor.

This room has the best views of all and it's a joy to lie in bed drinking that early morning cup of tea and looking out over the sea.

If the more active among you wish to use the watersports equipment located in the small shed you are welcome to do so but at your own risk. Please ensure that the activity is appropriately supervised.
